Tocklai Tea Research Institute ofTea Research Association is located at Jorhat, Assam. It carries out frontline research on all aspects of tea. The Institute is seeking applications from eligible candidates to fill up the following vacant positions at the main Institute Headquarter at
Tocklai, Jorhat, Assam.

Vacancy Details:
1. Sr. Principal Scientist (Mycology/Microbiology/Plant Pathology)
Essential qualification: Ph.D. in the subject with first class Master Degree in Mycology/Microbiology/ Plant Pathology with minimum 6 years post doctoral research / industry experience in the relevant field. Experience and R & D aptitude should be reflected through publication in high impact factorsjoumals, demonstrating exceptional research abilities.
Desirable qualification: 8 years post doctoral research/ industry experience in the relevant field. The candidates working in Govt/Public Sector should have minimum one year experience in the next lower pay scale or next lower equivalent pay scale.

2. Principal Scientist (Mycology/Microbiology/Plant Pathology):
Essential qualification: Ph.D. in the subject with first class Master Degree in Mycology/ Microbiology/ Plant Pathology with minimum 3 years post doctoral research / industry experience in the relevant field. Experience and R & D aptitude should be reflected through publication in high impact factors journals, demonstrating exceptional research abilities are
desirable.
Desirable qualification: 5 years post doctoral research/ industry experience in the relevant field. The candidates working in Govt/Public Sector should have minimum one year experience in the next lower pay scale or next lower equivalent pay scale.
Job responsibilities:
1. To lead a team of scientists in the Department ofMycology & Microbiology.
2. Responsible for developing research strategy and execution of departmental research programme.
3. To provide leadership and direction to technical people.
4. To attract funds for research in the Department.
5. To represent the organization at different scientific forum as assigned from time to time.
Pay Band: Sr. Principal Scientist (37400-67000; Grade Pay 8900) / Principal Scientist (37400-67000; Grade Pay 8700) with facilities like PF, Medical, Semi furnished accommodation, other allowances etc. as per TRA rules.
Age: Upper age limit is 50 years (for Sr. Principal Scientist) and 45 years (for Principal Scientist), relaxable by 5 years in case ofhighly experienced/ TRA candidates, if any.
3. Principal Scientist (Water Management / Water Technology):
Essential qualification: Ph.D. in the subject with first class Master Degree in Water Management of M.E./ M. Tech, in Civil Engineering/ Soil & Water Conservation Engineering/ Agricultural Engineering with minimum 3 years post doctoral experience of Water Management in Agricultural crops, preferably in tea or other crops including horticulture/ forestry. Experience
of research in reputed institutes and research abilities are desirable.
Desirable qualification: 5 years post doctoral research/ industry experience in the relevant field. The candidates working in Govt./Public Sector should have minimum one year experience in the next lower pay scale or next lower equivalent pay scale.

4. Principal Scientist (Biochemistry):
Essential qualification: Ph.D. in the subject with first class Master Degree in Biochemistry/ Chemistry with minimum 3 years post doctoral research / industry experience in the relevant field, experience of research in Agricultural crops, preferably in tea or other crops including horticulture/ forestry. Experience of research in reputed institutes and research publications in high impact factorjournals, demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
Desirable qualification: 5 years post doctoral research/ industry experience in the relevant field. The candidates working in Govt./Public Sector should have minimum one year experience in the next lower pay scale or next lower equivalent pay scale.
Job responsibilities:

2. To attract funds for research in tea Biochemistry.
3. To represent the organization at different scientific forum as assigned from time to time.
Pay Band: Principal Scientist (37400-67000; Grade Pay 8700) with facilities like PF, Medical, Semi furnished accommodation, other allowances etc. as per TRA rules.
Age: Upper age limit is 45 years (for Principal Scientist), relaxable by 5 years in case of highly experienced/ TRA candidates, if any.
Application procedure and other terms & conditions:
1. Candidate must be an Indian citizen as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
2. Candidate already employed should apply through proper channel.
3. Application fee of Rs.750.00 (Rupees Seven Hundred Fifty only) is to be paid by demand draft in favour of Tea Research Association payable at Jorhat should be enclosed along with the application form.
4. Application in the prescribed format must be accompanied by the following:
i) Attested copies of all certificates/ mark sheets in support of educational qualifications, age, experience, etc.
ii) One recent passport size photograph to be pasted in appropriate box of application form.
iii) Attested copy of employment registration card, if any.
iv) Other relevant certificates / papers.
5. The application without proper supporting documents or unsigned will be summarily rejected.
6. No TA/ DA will be admissible for attending the interview, if short listed.
7. Canvassing directly or indirectly will be treated as disqualification of candidature.
8. More possessing the requisite qualification will not make a candidate eligible for the interview. The final decision to call for the interview shall rest with the TRA Authority.
9. Interested candidates may submit their application (hard copy only) as per specific format

10.Advance copies by employed candidates may be sent, but a copy through proper channel accompanied by a No Objection Certificate from the employer is mandatory.
